The tool that Tina is referring to is not an assessment - rather is a
new data system. How does anyone validate that a student has achieved
the goal of getting, retaining or improving a job? Intially this may be
through self-reporting, or if you are able to tap into your state's
employment tracking system and you collect social security numbers, you
may be able to confirm that goal. Of course, the additional follow-up
requirements are also tricky when you have an extremely mobile
population. For states that are not working through their labor stats
offices, what processes do you use for follow-up - one month, 3 months
after the student is no longer attending?
What are the time, personnel and dollar committments needed, as well as
the processes?

Hi Marie and Amy,

I am not sure if this is what you are interested in, but Arizona is
using a new software program called NRSpro. It is our new data capture
instrument for all attendance, goal, and personal information for our
ABE classes. It has a special area for capturing the goals as students
set them and as they achieve them. If you are interested, please contact
the Arizona Department of Education Adult Education team. Miriam
Kroeger, Wilda Theobald, or Paul Franckowiak could help you.

Hi,

I'm interested in finding out if anyone has recommendations for
a research-based assessment tool to measure students' progress toward
achieving individual goals such as life skills. Our agency is interested
in tracking personal goals of our students, but haven't been able to
find an assessment tool yet. If anyone has suggestions, please let me
know.
