Abstract

TheTeacher Induction Pathway provides a framework for induction with a graphic representation of six steps: Readiness, Planning, Learning, Preparing, Applying and Reflecting. Supported by the instructional leader, mentors engage beginning teachers in learning new concepts and instructional practices and then trying those practices in the classroom. The graphic shows a recommended sequence and timeline for the main activities in the teacher induction pathway over the course of 9 months. However, because the Toolkit is designed to be flexible and adaptable, the timeline can be adjusted depending on the needs and context of the specific beginning teacher and program.

Benefits and Uses

This graphic organizer provides a visual representation of the Teacher Induction Pathway. It summarizes the work done in each of the six steps of induction—Readiness, Planning, Learning, Preparing, Applying and Reflecting—and identifies who leads and who supports the work done in each step. As a result, this is a great resource for anyone looking for a quick overview of the induction process.
