Assessment Strategies and Reading Profiles

Four Special ASRP Discussions on LINCS

Beginning Tues., January 26, the National Institute for Literacy (Institute) and World Education will kick off the redesigned Assessment Strategies and Reading Profiles (ASRP) site with a series of four special online forums in collaboration with the Institute’s LINCS Discussion Lists. Each week long ASRP discussion will be led by prominent researchers in that field and by practitioners who are also content experts.

In July 2009, the Institute worked with a team from World Education that included John Strucker, Steve Quann, Sally Waldron, and consultant Rosalind Davidson to extensively revise and update its web-based ASRP. In addition to providing useful information and free resources on reading assessment and reading profiles, the ASRP site offers a unique interactive feature that allows teachers to match their adult learners' test scores to research-based adult reading profiles. It also allows teachers to receive instructional suggestions based on those matches.

How to Join the ASRP Discussions

It’s quick and easy to participate in one or more of these special ASRP discussions. Join the ASRP forums by clicking here and selecting a LINCS Discussion List. After subscribing, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing a link to validate your subscription.

Before each ASRP online discussion, you will receive a one-page abstract containing brief bios of the guest discussants, additional information about the online forum, as well as useful articles and resources.
